“Cricket” is a beautiful little Quaker parakeet whose owner has Asperger’s Syndrome and can no longer care for it. Quaker parakeets are illegal to possess in Kansas so we’re appealing to Missouri residents only. Quakers have very outgoing personalities – we believe this to be a female as it is not an aggressive bird. Cricket has been cared for by the owner’s 84-year old mom in her basement and it’s been very difficult for her, as well as for her son who performs as a 12-year old to 18-year old, even though he’s in his late 40’s.
These birds can live an average of 25 years in captivity – Cricket is only 2 years old. He was friendly with his owner but hasn’t been held for a couple of years. It is our desire to place Cricket in a loving home as soon as possible so it can begin being worked with. We will give suggestions on how to work with it and tame it down so it can be a fun pet. They have very curious and cute personalities.
Cricket should be provided a larger cage with a play gym or other exercise area in which to play with toys and flap its wings. We will provide a small cage for Cricket but highly recommend a larger one be provided. | | | | |
